Addictions Medicine Partial Hospitalization Program
This program has been utilized effectively as the initial point of care or as a step-down
level of care from the inpatient detoxification unit. Partial hospitalization provides 5
day per week, all day treatment for individuals who can safely return home overnight while
pursuing their recovery plan.

- Initiation of treatment with medication, psychotherapy, stress reduction, relaxation training, activities therapy and leisure time planning
- Psychoeducation
- Medication education
- Five-days per week/six hours per day programming
- Holistic focus
- Spiritual counseling
- Emphasis on 12 step program initiation and follow-up
Addictions Medicine Intensive Outpatient Program
The Intensive Outpatient Program at St. Lawrence Campus of Sparrow Health System should be
considered for the provision of services to patients that do not need the intensity of
daily programming to maintain abstinence. These patients may also be able to continue in
their work environment while solidifying the gains that they have made in prior treatment
interventions.

- Three-days per week/four hours per day programming

Relapse Prevention Groups

- Psychoeducation
- Group therapy
- Individual therapy
- One day per week/1.5 hours per session programming
- Emphasis on step program follow-up
- Focus on trigger for relapse
Addiction Medicine therapists
- Master's degree prepared therapist
Family intervention services
- Scheduled in collaboration with therapists and provided through Outpatient Behavioral Health Clinic
Outpatient treatment is offered in the Outpatient Behavioral Health Clinic as an initial
point of care or as a step-down from partial hospitalization or intensive outpatient
programs. Patients meeting the following criteria would be suggested as candidates for
this level of care.
- Willingness to accept treatment, at least initially, and requesting service
- Patient is at risk of continued use if not in treatment to assist abstinence
- Patient causing significant risk to unborn if immediate cessation of use is not maintained
- Social consequences of substance use at a level which would cause severe stress in a sober patient
- Inability to attain or maintain abstinence without this level of care
