The following services are available on an inpatient basis and arrangements can be made through the nursing units.

• Psychiatric assessment team based on site at Sparrow Health System main hospital campus
• Provides on-demand psychiatric assessment of medically ill patients that have psychiatric symptoms
• Assists in disposition and triage in coordination with medical and surgical services
• Works closely with social work and discharge planning to triage patients to the appropriate level of service
• Initiates and participates in treatment of behavioral disturbances and psychiatric symptoms for medically ill patients
• Available on a 24 hour per day/7 day per week basis
• Provides educational opportunities to family practice and internal medicine residents along with medical students as they are assigned to the rotation
• Provides capability of immediate psychiatric assessment of patients in the Observation Unit
• Has the capacity for providing outpatient consultations for primary care services that are willing to work in collaboration with the consulting psychiatrist
