UM Health-Sparrow recognizes that we all have basic rights, and we are committed to honoring these rights to ensure everyone is treated with dignity, respect, and compassion. Likewise, UM Health-Sparrow has a right to expect reasonable and responsible behavior from patients, their relatives, and friends.

Hospital care involves a unique partnership between the patient, family, physician, and hospital staff based on mutual trust and respect. Respecting your rights and responsibilities is the first step in establishing a trusting relationship.

In accordance with Michigan Compiled Laws Annotated (MCLA), UM Health-Sparrow has adopted rights and responsibilities that apply to all patients, including neonates, children, adolescents, and adults.
